Description

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Assistant in Hanover, MD. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, supporting audits, and assisting with financial reporting and special projects. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries and account adjustments
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Maintain accounting records, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Generate and distribute financial reports and analyses as requested
  • Compile, organize, and maintain electronic and physical accounting files
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records and transactions
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
  • Review accounting correspondence and route information to appropriate team members
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and account variances
  • Support finance initiatives, reporting projects, and process improvement efforts
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience
  • Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities
  • Experience with accounting software or ERP systems
  • Experience supporting audits and financial reporting
  • Corporate or public accounting experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
