Accountant

Yurok Telecommunications Corporation (YTEL) is seeking an Accountant to perform day-to-day Finance operations, including accounts payable and vendor payments, payroll, bank transfers and reconciliations, cash reporting, and support for federal and state grant reimbursements. The position reports to the CFO and works closely with the Controller.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Process vendor payments through the accounts payable workflow and BILL: review invoices and supporting documentation, apply project and budget coding, and independently verify new or changed vendor payment instructions using established contact information before payment.
2. Process payroll in TriNet, including timesheet collection, payroll journal entries, and the allocation of payroll costs to projects and funding sources.
3. Prepare bank transfers for approval and maintain the weekly cash sheet by bank account and funding source.
4. Reconcile all bank accounts monthly, resolve reconciling items, and record deposits and other cash receipts.
5. Reconcile monthly credit card statements and allocate charges to projects and funding sources.
6. Calculate and withhold TERO fees on contractor payments, maintain the TERO liability schedule, and prepare remittances to the Yurok Tribe.
7. Assemble invoice and payroll support for federal and state grant drawdowns and reimbursement requests, and maintain the draw files.
8. Maintain vendor files, W-9s and contract records, and prepare year-end vendor reporting.
9. Assist with month-end close, financial statement preparation, budget-to-actual reporting and fixed asset records in Sage Intacct.
10. Support the annual financial statement and Single Audit by preparing schedules and pulling the support requested by the external auditors.
11. Document recurring procedures and perform other accounting tasks as assigned by the CFO.

1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, with relevant work experience in accounts payable, payroll or general ledger accounting.
2. Employee must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or becomes required of the position in the future.
3. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
