About the Company
Our client is a Houston-based manufacturing company seeking an Accountant II to join its accounting team. This role will support core accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, audit preparation, and financial analysis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is a strong opportunity for an accounting professional with 3–5 years of experience who has worked within a manufacturing environment and is ready to take on broader accounting ownership while working closely with the Controller.
Position Summary
The Accountant II will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting month-end close, reconciling accounts, reviewing accounting transactions, and assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working in an ERP system, and able to partner with accounting, procurement, operations, and production teams to ensure financial accuracy across the business.
Only candidates with manufacturing industry experience will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and account reconciliations.
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and reporting.
- Review and process accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll-related transactions for accuracy.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, credit card transactions, and other financial records.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Partner with procurement, production, and operations teams to verify cost data and support manufacturing-related accounting needs.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable tax and reporting requirements.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Assist the Controller with ad hoc accounting, reporting, and process improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Manufacturing industry experience is required.
- Experience with account reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, operations, procurement, and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing-related financial analysis.
- Experience supporting audits, budgeting, or forecasting processes.
- CPA or CMA certification, or progress toward certification, is a plus but not required.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
