Accountant
Location: Central Houston, TX

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a well-established, privately held company in Central Houston. This position offers a broad range of accounting responsibilities, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, inventory, and project-related accounting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with other departments. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on accounting role in a stable, successful business.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  
• 
  Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
  
• 
  Assist with monthly financial reporting, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  
• 
  Support inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, and reconciliations.
  
• 
  Assist with project accounting, including job costing, cost allocations, and revenue recognition.
  
• 
  Work closely with operations and other departments to ensure accurate recording of costs and financial transactions.
  
• 
  Maintain fixed asset schedules and related depreciation.
  
• 
  Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual audit activities.
  
• 
  Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
  

Qualifications

• 
  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Accounting preferred.
  
• 
  3+ years of general accounting experience, preferably with exposure to full-cycle accounting.
  
• 
  Strong general ledger, account reconciliation, and month-end close experience.
  
• 
  Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or job costing preferred.
  
• 
  Background in distribution, construction, manufacturing, or another project-based business is a plus.
  
• 
  Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
  
• 
  Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  
• 
  Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively with other departments.
