Accountant, General Ledger – Alterra Mountain Company Denver, COWhat We Offer Free Ikon Pass for eligible employeesAdditional free skiing/riding privileges for eligible employees and dependentsDiscounted skiing/riding for friends and family of eligible employeesFlexible Time Off (FTO) and Paid Time Off (PTO) policiesGenerous discounts on outdoor gear, apparel, rental cars, etc.Medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, short-term & long-term disability insurance, EAP, HSAs, FSAs, and more401(k) plan with generous company matchPaid parental leave of up to 6 weeksCommuter benefits (Denver employees only)Flexible/hybrid workplace policy allowing remote work with regular in-person collaboration at our dog-friendly headquarters in Denver's RiNo Art DistrictPosition Summary This position coordinates, administers and processes all aspects of general ledger accounting for all resorts and entities assigned.Essential Duties Responsible for all accounting, reporting and GL maintenance for individual resorts and entities as assigned in accordance with US GAAP.Ensure a complete and accurate month-end close process within established deadlines of the company.Balance sheet reconciliation responsibilities and understanding of recurring and non-recurring transactions and their impact on the balance sheet.Review and enter adjusting journal entries as proposed by resort contacts and submit appropriate supporting documentation.Act as a liaison between resort and other accounting and finance groups to ensure complete and accurate communication of financial data.Develop accounting memos that analyze transactions and draw conclusions based on relevant accounting guidance from the FASB Accounting Standards Codification.Prepare audit schedules, provide audit support, and assist auditors in their inquiries.Perform variance analyses, identify and resolve unusual variances via investigation and communication with resort personnel.Initiate investigation of reconciling items or discrepancies, contact appropriate individuals for information, and propose and implement solutions.Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications 2-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting, industry accounting or both.Understanding of deferred revenue accounting as well as other standard accounting cycles involving the balance sheet and income statement.Experience using multiple accounting and other software applications such as D365 and an understanding of how these systems interface with the GL system of record.Ability to research problems and take corrective action.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.Ability to multitask and handle quick deadlines.License to practice public accounting (CPA) preferred.Professional/lived experience working in a culturally competent manner with a broad range of people.Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.Salary: Denver area base salary range: $58,000 - $81,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary and may be above and below the range based on various factors including experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. This range is just one component of the Company's total compensation package for employees.
