Education Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting experience will be considered.
  • Ongoing professional development in accounting, payroll, tax compliance, or financial reporting is a plus.

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, controller, or financial management roles preferred.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and general ledger management.
  • Knowledge of sales tax, payroll tax filings, 1099 reporting, and corporate tax preparation support.
  • Transportation or trucking industry accounting experience preferred, including familiarity with IFTA, Form 2290, and regulatory filings.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to review financial documents and enter data accurately.
  • Capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move office materials up to 20 pounds.

Job Duties

  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting functions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Generate monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, and cash flow analyses.
  • Coordinate tax-related activities, including sales tax, payroll tax, PFML filings, and 1099 reporting.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly IFTA fuel tax returns, annual Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (Form 2290), and other transportation-related compliance filings.
  • Maintain MCS-150 records and support regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Process daily operational paperwork, including delivery receipt documentation.
  • Assist with audits, insurance reporting, and collaboration with external accountants.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and support strong internal financial controls.
