    Accountant

    Location: Austin, TX

    Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 Days per Week

    A well-established financial services organization is seeking an Accountant to join its growing team in Austin.     This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with financial data, identifying trends, improving processes, and supporting key business decisions. The Accountant will play an important role in maintaining financial accuracy, preparing reports for leadership, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy of general ledger accounts.
    • Analyze financial information and business transactions to support monthly and annual reporting activities.
    • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports for management.
    • Monitor expenditures, receivables, and other financial activity in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
    • Review contracts, orders, and supporting documentation to validate financial transactions.
    • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies within financial records and reports.
    • Perform financial and statistical analysis to identify trends, variances, and operational insights.
    • Support compliance with GAAP and internal accounting procedures.
    • Assist with the implementation and enhancement of accounting systems, controls, and reporting processes.
    • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and scalability across the accounting function.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of general accounting experience.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, IF statements, and data formatting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
    • CPA designation or progress toward certification.
    • Exposure to financial services, insurance, or related industries.
    • Experience with reporting and data analysis tools.
    • Knowledge of internal controls, auditing, or compliance procedures.
