Position: Account Manager 

Job Summary

Boyd is seeking an enthusiastic Account Manager to join our Sales Team. In this role, you will be the critical point person driving continuous revenue growth across our customer base. The ideal candidate will have proven success in managing an existing book of business while also identifying new opportunities both with existing and potential new customer books of business.

The Account Manager will be responsible for identifying new opportunities within their assigned accounts, build strong and lasting relationships, provide solutions, educate potential customers about Boyd’s capabilities, and improve overall sales performance for the Grand Rapids site.  

To ensure success in this role, you should have a strong knowledge of product technology, a passion for sales, be highly collaborative, and have the ability to seek out and develop new opportunities. Ultimately, a top-class Account Manager drives business by understanding customer needs and helping to develop the right solutions to meet and exceed expectations. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

•     Work directly with existing customers to support and manage business growth by developing strong relationships with operating departments and various management levels.Maintain existing and develop new business and forge new relationships with cross-functional organizations at potential customers.
•     Achieve intimate knowledge of customers and industries in which customers compete and complete market analysis and assessment of competitive landscape, including 1, 3, and 5-year projections on industry trends.Develop and execute strategies for increased customer penetration by selling additional products and services to all customer divisions.
•     Set strategic goals and tactical plans to achieve significant growth and build on the culture of achieving those goals within a high success/high reward environment.Personally, and directly engage at customer locations to win business through active business development. Requires establishing strong relationships with various management levels. 
•     Work closely with customer engineers and purchasing to ensure product and design requirements are identified. Work closely with Boyd Engineering to manage the design and development of customer solutions.Display and demonstrate products and solutions using prototypes, samples, and marketing support materials to provide value-added guidance to customers. Leverage knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to illustrate and emphasize Boyd’s value-added propositions.
•     Oversee the quotation process. In conjunction with the Sales Support Teams, perform technical review of engineering drawings and specifications. Gather and prepare required information for formal quotation including, but not limited to, drawings, sample parts, technical data, volumes, and material sources for submittal to Boyd Estimating. Approve the preparation of formal quotation packages with pricing to maximize revenue, while also maximizing Gross Margin.Engage with customers on all commercial topics, including credit and shipping terms, legal requirements, payments, etc. Manage aspects of the relationship per terms and conditions of agreements and negotiate new agreements in conjunction with Boyd management. Respond when necessary to special customer needs or complaints.
•     In conjunction with the Sales Support Teams, monitor and manage progress of projects to successfully meet customers’ milestones and production schedules, from inception to implementation.Monitors Salesforce CRM package as required to capture all business opportunities, customer business intelligence, wins, and losses. Use this and other tools to frequently and transparently communicate opportunities and current state to colleagues and management.
•     Perform other duties as assigned. 

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, business, or related field.
•     5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical account management or program management role.Proven experience in sales and business development; including excellent prospecting, sales, negotiation, and closing skills
•     Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
•     Ability to travel to and from customer base ~25% travelProficient in Microsoft 365 and Teams
