Position Type: Outside Sales
OOCL is seeking an outside salesperson to support business development and customer relationship management within the Charlotte, NC market and surrounding sales territory.
This outside sales role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, growing existing customer relationships, developing territory sales plans, and supporting revenue growth within the ocean transportation and logistics industry. The Account Executive will work cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver responsive, value-driven solutions and a strong customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned sales territory.
- Maintain and grow existing customer accounts through regular communication, customer meetings, and business reviews.
- Develop and execute sales plans focused on revenue growth, customer value, and contribution improvement.
- Support bids, pricing discussions, customer proposals, and contract opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Trades department (pricing/rates), Customer Service department, Operations department, and the Sales department.
- Monitor market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity to support sales strategy.
- Adhere to OOCL's competition compliance policies and procedures in all business activities.
- Represent OOCL professionally in customer-facing and industry-related interactions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of sales experience in ocean transportation, steamship, freight forwarding, logistics, or a related transportation industry.
- Prior outside sales, territory sales, or account management experience preferred.
- Must reside in or near Charlotte, NC.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%, or as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.
