    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED

    Experience

    • Previous on the job experience and knowledge of Access Control and Security Alarm

    Systems, CATV etc.

    • Prior experience in electronics / alarm system repair and maintenance/CATV *

    telecommunications cable installation.

    • 2-year security systems, communications and CATV repair and troubleshooting.
    • Electronics certificate, preferred.

    POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE

    Will be responsible for assisting supervisor of surveillance and access controls with the installation of and maintaining

    access controls, security alarms, video/audio camera systems, in network/audio camera systems, CATV systems and

    associated devices and peripherals. Computer repair, daily work orders associated with troubleshooting all security

    systems hardware/software installations. Assist campuses with access control scheduling and access card maintenance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Responsible for the completion of all work orders and projects as assigned by the Supervisor of Surveillance

    and Access Controls regarding the installation of wiring concerning security systems, alarms, CATV systems

    and troubleshooting/configuring equipment.

    1. Assist campus and administrative staff with access control scheduling and MISD staff credentialing as it

    relates to accessing MISD buildings.

    1. Maintain and repair campuses computers.

    2. Perform Local Area Network troubleshooting and repairs using network testing equipment and Cat6 cabling

    tools.

    1. Communicate with campus personnel on scheduling of work to provide for minimal classroom disturbance.

    2. Report on status of assignments and projects to Supervisor of Surveillance or Access Control.

    3. New Installation, mounting, and configuration of access controls, security alarms and associated equipment in

    school facilities.

    1. Cross training with Access Control Operator to gain knowledge of surveillance and reporting.

    2. All other duties as assigned by Supervisor of Surveillance and Access Controls or MISD Chief of Police.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    1. Knowledge of wiring techniques including the installation of alarm system equipment and devices.

    2. Familiar with electrical code to provide for proper installation of security system cabling in existing and new

    facilities.

    1. Knowledge or experience with electronic trouble-shooting procedures in regards to verifying integrity of

    wiring. Familiar with electronic test equipment i.e., VOM, tracers, etc.

    1. Able to distinguish between various colors.

    2. Ability to keep privileged information confidential

    3. Valid Texas Driver''s License

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
