Access Control Technician

Location: Castroville, TX 78009

Pay Rate: $20.00 $28.00/hr

TradeSTAR is seeking skilled Access Control Technicians for a commercial security installation project in Castroville, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage security systems, with a strong understanding of access control infrastructure and device integration.

Responsibilities:
Install and terminate access control systems including card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and power supplies
Pull, route, label, and dress CAT6, composite, and low-voltage cabling in commercial environments
Install and support IP-based access control and integrated security systems
Mount and terminate security devices according to manufacturer specifications and project drawings
Perform cable testing, system commissioning, and functional verification of installed equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and low-voltage schematics
Troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and field device issues
Coordinate with project managers, lead technicians, and other trades to ensure project milestones are met
Maintain compliance with site safety requirements and industry standards

Requirements:
1+ years of commercial access control, security, or low-voltage installation experience
Experience installing and terminating access control devices and door hardware
Knowledge of structured cabling practices and low-voltage installation standards
Familiarity with IP networking concepts, PoE devices, and basic network troubleshooting
Ability to read construction drawings and technical documentation
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and installation equipment
OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required
Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
