Job Summary
The Tutoring Services Academic Support Specialist implements programs and initiatives that facilitate student success through one-on-one and small-group tutoring as well as academic classroom support. Primary responsibilities include tutoring students in Math, Science, and related courses, collaborating with faculty, various student support offices across TCC, and serving as a point of contact in the Math/Science tutoring center(s). This role plays a key part in connecting students with the academic resources they need to succeed.
Essential Duties
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in math, science or related courses.
Conduct math, science or related courses presentations and orientations.
Facilitate student success strategies in math, science or related courses through embedded tutoring, supplemental instruction or group-study.
Manage day-to-day front desk and tutoring coverage, including part-time math and science tutoring staff.
Track and evaluate data on students served by the Math/Science Tutoring Centers, assess the center's progress in meeting goals, and contribute to improvement by identifying actionable insights from collected data.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in math, science, education or related field.
1 year experience in tutoring, teaching or academic support in math, science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate in training programs such as ITTPC College Reading and Learning Association or National Tutoring Association.
