The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. ACCESS offers multiple instructional learning environments to help students find their personal path in education and provide individualized, targeted, and differentiated instruction with standards-based curriculum and assessments. ACCESS is committed to individual student success. Student placement is determined by administration at the time of enrollment based on the academic needs and personal circumstances of each student. The Multilingual Student Services department in ACCESS has two primary goals: to ensure English Learner (EL) Students achieve English proficiency and to ensure EL students develop the necessary academic English to succeed in school, career, and life. Multilingual Student Services Academic Support Assistants provide supplemental support to our EL learners both inside and outside the classroom.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • One year of experience working with children in an organized setting; and one of the following: • Completion of at least two years of study at a college or university; OR • An Associate of Arts degree; OR • Satisfactory completion of an approved OCDE Test (ESSA Exam) Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: • Some assignments require demonstrated proficiency in a designated second language to carry out the assigned duties described above. • Some assignments require background clearance conducted by probation department. Documents: The following documents are required for this position for proof of 60 semester units or the completion of an AA Degree: • Copy of transcripts or copy of your graduation certificate (Please upload copies to your application) An Eligibility List will be established for this position.
