Description
The Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at Texas A&M University College/of Dentistry invites applications for a one full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with a 11-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, and Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications. . This position will also have an administrative appointment as Assistant Program Director, Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).
The Assistant Program Director supports the Program Director in the administration, development, and continuous improvement of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. This role combines clinical supervision, didactic teaching, mentorship, and program coordination to ensure high-quality resident education and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program, and the Director, in the overall management and daily operations of the AEGD program.
- Participate in program leadership and decision-making; major program decisions will be made collaboratively by the Program Director and Assistant Program Director.
- Provide clinical supervision and coverage in the AEGD clinic, ensuring adherence to best practices, patient safety standards, and educational objectives.
- Develop and deliver didactic courses and seminars that support the clinical and academic growth of residents.
- Support resident evaluation, feedback, and mentorship, including monitoring clinical progress and professionalism.
- Coordinate and participate in external educational activities, including lectures, continuing education courses, and community-based learning experiences.
- Engage in professional networking to enhance program visibility, build institutional partnerships, and support recruitment efforts.
- Assist with accreditation compliance (e.g., CODA standards), curriculum development, and program assessment initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to foster a positive and academically rigorous learning environment.
As a faculty member, responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and supervise clinical activities
- Provide didactic and clinical instruction in predoctoral and postdoctoral programs, including interprofessional education.
- Evaluate student professionalism, clinical progress, and performance; provide academic counseling and mentorship.
- Participate in departmental research and scholarly activities
- Contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation, integrating technology and evidence-based practices.
- Engage in service to the department, college, and university

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- DDS or equivalent dental degree.
- Completion of CODA accredited advanced training program in AEGD or General Practice Residency.
- Eligibility for dental licensure in the state of Texas.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to dental education and resident mentorship.
- Clinical and educational experience with digital workflows, and latest proven dental technologies for patient care.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
- Prior teaching or academic experience preferred.
- Experience with full mouth rehabilitation cases, endodontics, oral surgery and implants, and esthetic cases.
- Ability to balance clinical, educational, and administrative responsibilities.
- Active involvement in organized dentistry and professional networks.
- Commitment to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.
