    TITLE: Academic Paraprofessional

    NOTE: The position entails working in academic classroom settings.

    REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY: Director of Academics & Title I Services

    GENERAL STATEMENT: This assignment consists of assisting and working in collaboration with academic teachers and the Director of Academics & Title I Services to enhance and support the learning experiences of students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate's Degree
    • Knowledge and experience working with adolescents
    • Knowledge of technology-assisted teaching techniques
    • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn specific educational technology software programs

    PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Delivery of Instruction

    • Work in academic settings (i.e. classrooms, library/media center) to support all students in collaboration with the classroom teacher, special educators and department lead teachers
    • Assist individual students in completion of hands-on and written assignments in study halls and self-directed seminars
    • Assist in preparing and distributing specialized instructional material
    • Assist students in utilizing educational technology
    • Ability to multi-task and balance a variety of job responsibilities throughout the workday

    Records and Reports

    • Prepare paperwork, compile data, and maintain records as necessary
    • Maintain files for tests, worksheets and other items

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Support the philosophy and mission statement of the school
    • Participate in professional development activities offered by the district
    • Maintain professional dress, punctuality, and attendance
    • Establish a professional, courteous working relationship with staff and students
    • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of fully licensed teachers
    • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics & Title I Services
