Working Hours and/or Working Conditions
HOURS: Maximum 25 hours per week. Work hours/days will be within office hours of the department based on office needs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel between campuses and off-campus locations may be required for campus liaison and professional meeting activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in technology and student information systems. Knowledge of shared governance, community college mission, and accessibility best practices.
Supervision
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Dean, Counseling & Academic Advising or may take direction from divisional administration. May receive direction and/or training from full-time advisors as assigned. SUPERVISION GIVEN: N/A
Job Function
The Academic Advisor provides holistic advising that supports and advocates for students as they progress toward completing their academic objectives. As part of the Counseling and Academic Advising Department, this role is dedicated to supporting declared/established students who have identified a specific Macomb Community College degree or certificate or have selected a transfer institution and major as their academic goal while fostering persistence, progress, and completion. Through comprehensive, student-centered guidance and intentional support, this position plays a key role in advancing student success and promoting equitable academic outcomes.

Bachelor's degree required.
Qualifications
Academic Advising or admissions experience at a college/university preferred but not required.
