The University Advising Center seeks an Academic Advisor I/II to join its dedicated team of professionals. We deliver high quality, student-centered, and culturally responsive support to students. The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to support the academic and professional development needs of pre-health students from onboarding at New Student Orientation, through pre-requisite course planning and tracking, and professional school application preparation. Additionally, the candidate's secondary responsibilities will include supporting the advising and administrative functions of the WSU Phoenix (grade forgiveness) program for all participating schools, colleges, and units. The Academic Advisor I/II will report to the Senior Director of University Advising.
Essential Functions:
The advisor is responsible for assisting students with navigating the transition to Wayne State including advising/registration support during first year and transfer orientation, one-on-one advising and group advising, programming to support career decision-making and professional development, helping students assess their academic and personal needs, and making appropriate referrals as needed. This position will assist students exploring alternative career pathways when needed. Responsibilities include:
