Job Description

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is accepting applications for an Academic Advisor who will join a dedicated and passionate team of professional staff in the Transfer Center to assist undergraduate transfer students with their transition into the university, including students participating in community college co-enrollment programs. This position will report to the Director of the Transfer Center and collaborate with Admissions, Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Studies, Student Affairs, and academic units to establish and implement support services for transfer students.

Responsibilities include:

Advising students on academic requirements for degree completion

Helping students select courses for enrollment each academic term

Assisting students with transfer credit evaluation and academic advising support throughout the transfer admission and onboarding process

Helping students navigate university policies and procedures

Providing guidance and support to students who may need additional assistance as indicated by early alerts and new student check-ins

Making referrals to appropriate campus resources

Participating in Transfer Center, Undergraduate Studies, and campus-wide projects and committees related to academic advising and student success

Presenting to students, families, faculty, and staff during recruitment and informational events and new student orientation sessions

Participating in assessment and evaluation of Transfer Center programs, services, and initiatives

Maintaining knowledge of current trends in higher education and academic advising, including participation in professional development activities

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, some evening and weekend responsibilities may be required

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working with transfer and first generation students is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $43,680 - $47,840 annually

Grade: GGS-8
