  • Provide developmental advising, support for major exploration advising, and programs to meet the specific needs of the following student populations: first-year and continuing undergraduate students who are undecided (No Major Selected), students seeking alternative majors; students who have been academically excluded from competitive majors; and/or students who are on academic warning/probation or who have been academically ineligible from the University.
  • Advisor will provide 25 business hours of 30-minute in-person appointment availability weekly.
  • Proficiency with University of Arizona Student Information System (UAccess).
  • Possesses a full range and depth of professional knowledge and experience which allows them to work independently.
  • Utilizes University advisor tools with excellent proficiency.
  • Organizes the transfer of Required Program Change (RPC) students with respective colleges, working with Assistant Director to facilitate.
  • Provides programming initiatives for current RPC students within The A Center.
  • Markets Major Exploration Program in fall semester to first-year students, including visiting TLS 100 classes, providing messaging, and monitoring student enrollment.
  • Manages spring Major Exploration Programming for first-year students, working with Senior Associate Director and Administrative Services Manager to facilitate non-course programs.
  • Facilitate related workshops and presentations.
  • Serve on various university committees.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of student development theory, advising practices, and principles.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills and proactive, open, and responsive interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with various student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with university personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with various student populations effectively and professionally, university personnel, representatives from businesses and the community.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and perform duties autonomously.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and individuals in a complex environment.
  • Proficiency with University of Arizona Student Information System (UAccess).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
