Position Summary:

AAI/Spalding is a leading sports equipment manufacturer located in Jefferson, Iowa and part of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. 

 

We currently have an opening for a Laser Operator. This position is responsible for operating a Class 4 Fiber Tube Laser to fabricate material per written instructions, schedules, and drawings to meet production demand. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and a pay rate of $21.68 - 23.68/hour.

Specific Responsibilities:

Process cut work orders on tube laser to meet demand.

  • Read and interpret work orders, including prints, bills of material and routings.
  • Set up nested files to save material and minimize waste.
  • Change tooling such as nozzles, ceramics, lenses, etc.
  • Load / unload materials
  • Monitor machine operations.
  • Inspect materials and finished product to identify material defects and machine malfunctions. Effectively communicate defects and malfunctions to engineering and maintenance personnel

Perform machine diagnostics and scheduled operator maintenance functions. Perform calibration and related machine adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operations. Keep machine and work area clean. 

 

Operate saws, drills, grinders, and other tooling to complete required tasks per work orders.  Includes removing burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from materials.

 

Accurately report labor performed daily and within reasonable standard set for parts produced.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to effectively read and interpret engineering drawings and production work instructions.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English fluently
  • Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one basis.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide various units of measure.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills testing.
Minimum Job Experience Required:
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
