Position Overview
GigaSpan Solutions is seeking an experienced Audio Visual (A/V) Project Manager to manage commercial A/V projects from preconstruction and project kickoff through installation, commissioning, closeout, and customer turnover.
The A/V Project Manager will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, procurement, field coordination, financial performance, quality control, and customer communication. This position requires someone who understands commercial A/V systems and can effectively coordinate technicians, subcontractors, general contractors, manufacturers, and customers while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
We are looking for a hands-on Project Manager who understands how A/V systems are actually installed and commissioned-not simply someone who manages projects from behind a desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial A/V projects from kickoff through final closeout.
- Review project drawings, specifications, scope of work, contracts, and equipment lists.
- Develop project schedules, manpower plans, material requirements, and installation strategies.
- Coordinate equipment procurement and monitor long-lead equipment.
- Manage project budgets, labor hours, material costs, and overall project profitability.
- Coordinate with general contractors, electrical contractors, IT departments, consultants, manufacturers, and other trades.
- Prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Provide clear direction and expectations to A/V technicians and field leads.
- Monitor installation progress and proactively address schedule, manpower, material, and technical issues.
- Conduct site visits and perform quality-control inspections throughout installation.
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate system programming, testing, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
- Manage punch-list completion and project closeout documentation.
- Maintain accurate project records, including schedules, costs, changes, correspondence, and customer approvals.
- Communicate project status, risks, delays, and financial concerns to management before they become larger problems.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and project partners.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial A/V experience.
- Previous experience managing commercial A/V projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial A/V installation practices and system integration.
- Experience with systems and manufacturers such as Crestron, Q-SYS/QSC, Extron, Biamp, Shure, Dante, and similar professional A/V platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret A/V drawings, architectural plans, reflected ceiling plans, signal-flow diagrams, riser diagrams, and equipment schedules.
- Working knowledge of A/V racks, displays, projection systems, conferencing systems, microphones, speakers, DSPs, control systems, and network-based A/V.
- Understanding of system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout.
- Experience managing project budgets, labor forecasting, procurement, change orders, and project schedules.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to work independently and make sound project decisions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
- Manufacturer certifications from Dante, Crestron, Q-SYS/QSC, Extron, Biamp, Shure, or similar manufacturers.
- Experience with construction/project-management platforms such as Fieldwire, Bluebeam, or similar software.
- Experience managing projects involving both A/V and structured cabling infrastructure.
- Familiarity with networked A/V systems and basic IP networking concepts.
What We Expect
At GigaSpan Solutions, Project Managers are expected to take ownership of their projects. Successful PMs plan ahead, communicate problems early, support their field teams, maintain accurate project documentation, and understand where their projects stand financially and operationally.
This position requires someone who is willing to get involved, visit the jobsite, understand what the technicians are dealing with, and take responsibility for delivering a quality finished product to the customer.
We are looking for someone who can lead projects-not simply react to them.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation based on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
Benefits and additional compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
