Audit & Accounting (A&A) Manager

We are partnered with a well‑established CPA firm in Wilmington, DE that is seeking an experienced Audit & Accounting (A&A) Manager to join its leadership team. This role serves as a key liaison between partners, clients, and professional staff and is ideal for someone who enjoys managing engagements, mentoring teams, and building long‑term client relationships.
The A&A Manager will oversee multiple audit and accounting engagements simultaneously while helping guide the development and growth of both staff and the firm.
What You'll Do
- Manage all phases of audit, compilation, and review engagements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining a deep understanding of their businesses
- Plan, schedule, and staff engagements while managing workflow and budgets
- Supervise, review, and provide feedback on workpapers, reports, and financial statements
- Evaluate internal controls and ensure compliance with professional and firm standards
- Anticipate engagement risks and proactively address issues as they arise
- Keep partners informed of engagement status, challenges, and proposed solutions
- Review and ensure the accuracy of financial statements, tax returns, and client communications
- Mentor and develop staff through training, coaching, and performance evaluations
- Assist with billing, client fee discussions, and collections as needed
- Participate in practice development efforts, including client expansion and referral relationships
- Stay informed on economic, regulatory, and legislative developments impacting clients
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 7+ years of public accounting experience, with demonstrated progression in responsibility and engagement management
- Active CPA license required
- Strong background in audit and accounting engagements
- Proven experience supervising, mentoring, and developing staff
- Excellent client‑facing, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
