Who You'll Work With (6-month Temporary Assignment)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Temporary Senior Payroll Specialist to provide temporary support for U.S. and Canadian year-end payroll activities and ongoing payroll operations. This individual will help the team complete year-end audits, reconciliations, data validation, tax reporting activities, and payroll processing accurately, in accordance with established controls, and within required deadlines.

The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, a positive and collaborative approach, and an interest in using technology to improve payroll processes.

What You'll Do

  • Support U.S. and Canadian year-end payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, and data validation.
  • Review payroll results, research discrepancies, and help resolve payroll and tax-related issues.
  • Support U.S. and Canadian year-end tax reporting activities, including W-2, T4, and RL-1 validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution, as applicable.
  • Provide payroll processing, testing, and operational support during peak workload periods.
  • Follow established payroll controls and procedures while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Partner with Payroll team members and other internal teams to meet year-end deadlines.
  • Quickly learn and follow established payroll processes and systems.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve efficiency through technology, automation, or process standardization.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience, preferably in a large or complex organization.
  • Experience supporting at least two complete payroll year-end cycles.
  • Strong payroll fundamentals, including payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, controls, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll tax and statutory requirements; knowledge of Canadian payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet firm payroll and year-end deadlines.
  • Ability to learn established processes and systems quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential payroll and employee information with discretion.
  • Positive, collaborative approach, with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to support the team.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: The targeted hourly pay range for this position is $35 to $40.  In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
