Position Overview

Iroquois West Upper Elementary School is seeking a passionate, student-centered educator to join our team as a 5th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate is committed to creating an engaging classroom environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, academic growth, and positive student relationships.

This position utilizes the Inspire Science curriculum for science instruction and Studies Weekly for social studies instruction. We are looking for an educator who values teamwork, maintains high expectations for students, and contributes positively to our school culture.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in 5th grade science and social studies
• Utilize Inspire Science and Studies Weekly curriculum resources effectively to support student learning
• Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Implement strong classroom management strategies that promote student accountability and respect
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students
• Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
• Collaborate with grade-level teammates, intervention staff, and administration
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
• Participate in school initiatives, professional development, and team meetings

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
• Endorsement appropriate for elementary education
