Position Summary
Tonica Grade School District #79-proudly recognized as a 2025 Top Workplace-is seeking a dedicated and student-centered 5th Grade Elementary Teacher. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. This educator will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while building strong relationships with students, families, and staff in a close-knit rural community.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field (required)
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement (or ability to obtain)
- Strong knowledge of upper elementary curriculum and instructional best practices
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in an upper elementary classroom
- Background in differentiated instruction and data-driven decision making
- Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools
- Additional endorsements (e.g., Reading, ESL, Special Education)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and outdoor settings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of all learners
- Use data and assessments to guide instructional decisions and monitor student progress
- Create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and safety
- Implement effective classroom management strategies aligned with school expectations
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices to enhance learning
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and communication
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student achievement
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school improvement efforts
- Support school events and contribute positively to the Tonica school community
