Description

Level Legal is seeking highly skilled, U.S.-licensed, contract attorneys to provide services on remote document review projects. This is a project-based, 1099 contract role that supports law firms and corporate customers in litigation, audits, and investigations.

You bring extensive experience in reviewing documents for relevance, privilege, confidentiality, and issue tagging while applying project-specific guidelines in a fast-paced, collaborative review environment. You also have experience with privilege, privilege logging, and redaction workflows.

Role Details

  • Role: Contract Document Review Attorney, 1099.
  • Location: Fully remote, but must reside in the U.S., and all services must be provided from within one of the 50 states or Washington, DC.
  • License Required: Active U.S. law license in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).
  • Contracted Payment Rate: $28/hour (flat rate).
  • Typical Project Lengths: Short-term projects, generally two to eight weeks. But project lengths will vary.
  • Typical Project Hours: Projects require a minimum of 40 hours during the workweek. Projects may require additional hours or work on weekends.

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. law license in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written review protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Prior document review experience required.

Technology Requirements

  • High-speed internet access in a private home office.

  • Computer:

  • Windows 11 PC (or newer) computers, or

  • MacBooks with macOS 14.0 or later.

  • Mobile Devices (used for Multi-Factor Authentication only):

  • Android 12+ or iOS 17.0+.

  • Headset and webcam for video meetings.

  • Tablets are not supported for review, but can be used for Multi-Factor Authentication.

Important Advisory

This is a 1099 contract role. Level Legal does not withhold taxes or issue a W-2 for this role. Contractors are responsible for managing their own local, state, and federal tax obligations and will receive a 1099 form for all payments received.
