    Contract: 3 Months
    Potential: Temp-to-Perm, based on business needs and available openings
    Shift: MON - THU 11 pm to 07:30 am and SAT from 7 am to 5 pm. Hours subject to Business needs
    Overtime: Hours worked over 40 hours per week are paid as overtime.

    Job Summary:

    Sigma Inc. is seeking a 3rd Shift Sanitation Worker to support sanitation operations in a food manufacturing environment producing butter and other food products in Hicksville, NY.

    This is NOT a janitorial or traditional cleaning position. The role is physically demanding, hands-on, and highly task-oriented. The Sanitation Worker will dismantle, clean, sanitize, and reassemble food-processing equipment, including large kettles and the piping/plumbing systems that transfer product from kettles to filling machines.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Disassemble and reassemble food-processing equipment for thorough cleaning and sanitation.
    • Clean and sanitize kettles, piping systems, filling equipment, and other food-production equipment.
    • Scrub large kettles using appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.
    • Operate power washers and other sanitation equipment.
    • Follow SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and established cleaning procedures.
    • Properly handle and dilute sanitation chemicals according to safety requirements.
    • Follow MSDS/SDS requirements and chemical safety procedures.
    • Complete master sanitation records, daily paperwork, and other required documentation.
    • Become familiar with and perform CIP (Clean-in-Place/Chemical-in-Place) operations and milk silo cleaning.
    • Wear required PPE, including protective boots and other safety equipment.
    • Respond appropriately to sanitation or facility emergencies.
    • Maintain sanitation standards throughout the facility and production areas.
    • Work closely with Quality Assurance personnel, who inspect and swab equipment after sanitation.
    • Provide technical direction or training to other sanitarians when applicable.
    • Cover other departmental responsibilities or absences as needed.
    • Stay current with safety training and proper PPE requirements.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to stand and work on your feet for the entire shift.
    • Basic mechanical/tool knowledge with the ability to assemble and disassemble equipment.
    • Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with food-processing equipment.
    • Ability to bend, kneel, and work on your knees for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly.
    • Ability to read and understand written sanitation procedures.
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and dilution procedures.
    • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures as required.
    • Comfortable working in a noisy production/manufacturing environment.
    • Fluent in and able to read and write either English or Spanish.
    • Willingness to work the required Saturday shift.
    • Steel-toed shoes are required. Composite safety shoe covers may potentially be provided if needed.

    • Production Noise: Entire shift
    • PPE: Required throughout applicable sanitation activities
    • Steel-toed footwear: Required

    Important Schedule Requirement

    Candidates must be willing and available to work Saturdays as required. The typical Saturday schedule is approximately 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, although hours may vary based on business needs.

    Any hours worked beyond 40 hours in a workweek are overtime.

    What We're Looking For

    The ideal candidate is someone who is hands-on, mechanically inclined, physically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with tools and industrial food-processing equipment. This position requires someone who can perform repetitive sanitation tasks thoroughly while following strict safety and sanitation procedures.

    This position is not suitable for someone looking for a light-duty or traditional janitorial/cleaning role.
