    Sigma Systems is seeking an experienced Packaging Technician to support vaccine manufacturing operations at a production facility in Athens, GA. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on manufacturing, packaging, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and cGMP experience.

    The Packaging Technician will operate packaging machinery, label and inspect finished vaccine products, perform equipment setup and changeovers, complete production documentation, and follow established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    Job Summary

    The 3rd Shift Packaging Technician will perform labeling, inspection, and packaging activities for finished vaccine products. The technician will operate packaging equipment, monitor production line performance, troubleshoot equipment issues, perform equipment changeovers, and ensure all manufacturing and quality documentation is completed accurately.

    The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, quality-conscious, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a regulated manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Packaging & Production

    • Label, inspect, and package finished vaccine products.
    • Operate packaging equipment and maintain target production line rates.
    • Monitor packaging processes to ensure production goals are achieved.
    • Follow defined manufacturing process sequences and production procedures.
    • Collaborate with production and other functional teams to maintain workflow and meet production targets.
    • Perform cross-training in other departmental areas as required.

    Equipment Operation

    Operate and monitor packaging equipment such as:

    • Labelers
    • Pick-and-place equipment
    • Heat tunnels
    • Vision systems
    • Forklifts
    • Other packaging and production machinery
    • Perform equipment setup and changeovers.
    • Conduct initial troubleshooting of packaging equipment issues.
    • Identify equipment or process problems and escalate them appropriately.
    • Maintain equipment according to established SOPs.

    Quality & Inspection

    • Inspect finished products accurately and efficiently according to quality standards.
    • Perform QA line clearances, including small-volume line clearances.
    • Monitor manufacturing processes against production records and SOPs.
    • Ensure product labeling and packaging meet established quality requirements.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.

    Documentation & cGMP

    • Complete batch tickets and document materials consumed during production.
    • Complete required manufacturing records and data capture forms.
    • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, timely, and compliant with procedures.
    • Follow cGMP requirements and all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Adhere to defined process sequences.
    • Participate in daily performance reviews and team meetings.
    • Identify and report process occurrences and deviations to the Shift Line Leader or Supervisor.

    Communication & Safety

    • Communicate processing needs with coworkers and production team members.
    • Provide regular progress updates to the Shift Line Leader or Supervisor.
    • Immediately escalate process occurrences and production issues.
    • Communicate facility and inventory needs.
    • Follow all HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies and procedures.
    • Identify and report unsafe conditions, practices, or work habits.
    • Maintain a safe and responsible work environment.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 2–3 years of manufacturing experience.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Quality-conscious approach to production work.
    • Equipment and process troubleshooting skills.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
    • Ability to work onsite in Athens, GA.
    • Ability to work the 3rd shift, 3:00 PM–1:00 AM.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of related manufacturing or packaging experience.
    • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, vaccine, or regulated manufacturing experience.
    • Experience working under cGMP/GMP and SOP requirements.
    • Experience operating packaging machinery.
    • Forklift certification.
    • Experience with equipment changeovers and setup.
    • Experience with production documentation and batch records.
    • Experience troubleshooting packaging equipment.
