You’ll work closely with Art Direction, Design, and Engineering teams in a highly collaborative environment focused on gameplay readability, visual fidelity, and performance optimization.

- Pay Range: $60–$66/hr. on W2 without benefits
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and author particle systems, shaders, and post-process effects tuned for VR performance constraints
- Collaborate with Art Direction, Design, and Engineering to develop VFX that support gameplay readability and push visual fidelity on VR hardware
- Build and maintain VFX asset pipelines, including LOD strategies and GPU-efficient techniques specific to mobile VR rendering
- Contribute to the visual quality bar for the game's VFX across weapons, environments, and player feedback systems
- Author particle effects in Unity in close collaboration with Art and Engineering leads
- Profile and optimize effects to maintain frame rate targets while delivering cinematic look and feel of combat
Qualifications
- 5+ years of real-time VFX experience in AAA game development
- Shipped at least one multiplayer FPS or action title
- Expert proficiency with Unity particle systems (VFX Graph or Shuriken) and shader authoring
- Strong understanding of GPU performance budgets and mobile/VR optimization
- Experience with node-based shader editors and custom shader development
- Ability to work embedded with engineering teams on rapid iteration cycles
- VR development experience preferred
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in design or related field preferred.
