Qualifications:
Education/Certification :
Master's
Degree
with
at
least
48
hours
in
counseling
from
an
accredited
institution
Valid
Texas
school
counselor
certificate
Valid
Texas
Teacher
certification,
preferred
Administrator
certification,
preferred
Experience:
Minimum
of
three
(3)
years
or
more
of
counseling
experience
Minimum
of
three
(3)
years
of
leadership
experience
(may
include
serving
as
Lead
Counselor,
professional
development
facilitator,
or
active
member
in
a
counseling-related
association/council)
Minimum
of
two
(2)
years
or
more
of
classroom
experience,
preferred
Various
levels
of
counseling
experience,
including
experience
in
facilitating
social
and
emotional
learning,
guidance
lessons,
individual
student
planning,
responsive
services,

Responsibilities
and
Duties:
1.
Collaborate
with
district
and
campus
staff
to
implement
district-wide
initiatives,
identify
effective
school
counseling
programs,
and
provide
support
and
assist
administrators
with
evaluation
and
written
documentation
on
assigned
campuses.
2.
Assist
with
recruiting,
selecting,
and
orienting
new
counselors.
3.
Supervise
the
New
Counselor
Mentoring
Program.
4.
Plan
and
conduct
professional
development
for
school
counselors
and
district-wide
staff.
5.
Assist
with
Administrator
Training.
6.
Knowledge
of
reading
transcripts
for
academic
record
reviews,
the
Local
Graduation
Committee
(LGC),
and
the
Individual
Graduation
Committee
(IGC).
7.
Must
know
school
counseling
programs
for
all
levels.
8.
Stay
apprised
of
research-based
strategies.
9.
Create
and
manage
a
yearly,
weekly,
and
daily
calendar.
10.
Demonstrate
leadership
by
actively
engaging
in
district
committees.
11.
Know
the
ASCA
Model,
the
Texas
Model,
and
the
school
counselor
evaluation
tool
(TSCESS).
12.
Plan,
monitor,
and
evaluate
school
counselors
on
campuses.
13.
Visit
assigned
campuses
weekly
to
support
and
coach
counselors.
14.
Meet
with
school
administrators
to
discuss
any
counseling
issues
as
needed.
15.
Monitor
and
document
all
campus
visits
through
designated
tools.
16.
Advocate
for
school
counselors.
17.
Assist
school
counselors
with
time
management
and
planning.
18.
Comply
with
federal,
state,
and
district
policies.
19.
Coordinate
district-wide
activities
that
foster
all
students'
social/emotional
well-being.
20.
Assist
with
district-wide
college-readiness
initiatives.
21.
Monitor
required
guidance
lessons
and
small
group
activities
on
campuses.
22.
Assist
in
school-wide
college/career
guidance
activities
and
college/career
fairs.
23.
Collect
and
analyze
data
to
drive
campus-based
and
district-wide
prevention
and
intervention.
24.
Conduct
monthly
meetings
to
disseminate
information
and
discuss
best
practices.
25.
Collaborate
and
work
as
a
team
on
all
district-wide
activities.
26.
Follow
the
ASCA
Code
of
Ethics.
27.
Perform
all
other
duties
as
assigned.
