Position Summary

The CTE Coordinator supports the district's Career and Technical Education program by coordinating middle school career exploration experiences, high school job shadows and internships, completion and monitoring of the High School and Beyond Plan, and district-wide oversight of the robotics program. This position works closely with school counselors, teachers, building administrators, and community/business partners to connect students with real-world career exposure and to ensure compliance with state graduation and career-readiness requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Middle School Career Exploration

  • Coordinate and schedule middle school job shadow days and career exploration experiences in partnership with local businesses, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers willing to host middle school students for career awareness activities.
  • Prepare student materials, permission forms, and logistics (transportation, scheduling, safety documentation) for job shadow events.
  • Track student participation and gather feedback to improve future experiences.

High School and Beyond Plan

  • Support students, families, and school counselors in the completion, review, and monitoring of the High School and Beyond Plan for all students, in accordance with state requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress toward High School and Beyond Plan completion.
  • Assist in training staff and students on the online platform/system used to house the plan.
  • Generate reports for administration on completion rates and follow up with students/counselors on outstanding requirements.

High School Job Shadows and Internships

  • Recruit, coordinate, and place high school students in job shadow experiences and internships aligned with their career interests and CTE pathways.
  • Develop and maintain a network of business and community partners willing to host high school interns and job shadow students.
  • Manage required documentation, including training agreements, learning plans, liability paperwork, and work-based learning hour logs.
  • Monitor student attendance, performance, and safety while on internship/job shadow placements.
  • Coordinate with CTE teachers and counselors to align placements with coursework and pathway requirements.

District-Wide Robotics Program Oversight

  • Provide coordination and logistical oversight of the district's robotics program(s) across grade levels/buildings.
  • Support coaches/advisors with scheduling, registration for competitions, ordering of supplies/equipment, and budget tracking.
  • Serve as a point of contact between robotics teams, school administration, and outside organizations (e.g., FIRST Robotics, VEX).
  • Assist with recruiting volunteers, mentors, and judges as needed for events and competitions.
  • Help coordinate transportation and travel logistics for competitions and events.

General CTE Program Support

  • Assist the CTE Director with data collection, reporting, and compliance related to state and federal CTE requirements (e.g., Perkins V).
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and databases related to work-based learning, job shadows, and program participation.
  • Communicate regularly with staff, students, families, and community partners regarding CTE opportunities.
  • Assist with promotional materials, newsletters, and outreach to increase student participation in CTE programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CTE Director or building/district administration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience working with youth, schools, or career/workforce development programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships with business and community partners.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) and ability to learn student information/career-planning systems.
  • Ability to pass a background check per state and district requirements.
  • Valid driver's license may be required for site visits and travel to placements/events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating work-based learning, internships, or job shadow programs.
  • Familiarity with High School and Beyond Plan requirements and platforms.
  • Experience with or knowledge of robotics programs/competitions (FIRST, VEX, etc.).
  • Experience working in a school or CTE setting.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel between school sites and to community/business locations within the district.
  • Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events (robotics competitions, job shadow days, community events).
  • Standard office environment with regular use of a computer; some walking/standing required at events and school sites.

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
