    ISP Financial Specialist Senior

    The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a Financial Specialist Senior in Meridian. This is a limited-service position. This position will perform a full range of advanced professional financial duties requiring the application of accounting and/or auditing theory, principles, and practices. Additionally, this position will oversee ISP's federal grants and cash management.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and monitor federal grants within ISP
    • Monitor and manage cash balances
    • Work with program staff on budgeting and grant reconciliation
    • Submit DFM grant requests and monitor appropriations
    • Setup and manage project codes within LUMA
    • Communicate updates and policy changes to ISP staff
    • Train ISP staff on various financial duties and grant responsibilities
    • Prepare financial documents and complete federal reports
    • Prepare and explain documents of findings and conclusions concerning the policies, procedures, operational methods, and financial position of the agency
    • Update and Develop processes and procedures
    • Analyze, research, and maintain financial data, develop financial documents, and resolve problems

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Good knowledge of:

    • Accounting principles and practices
    • Federal grants / contracts

    Experience:

    • Developing and preparing financial documents
    • Using a computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data
    • Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action
    • Managing federal grants or projects

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using statewide Luma system
    • Experience using Microsoft Excel, or equivalent spreadsheet software to perform complex financial functions.
    • Knowledge of state budget processes
    • Experience with federal grants and cash management
    • Knowledge of account reconciliations
