Position Details

Position Description:

The 31n Social Worker is employed by the Iosco RESA (IRESA) and assigned to a local school district to provide direct and indirect services that support the academic success, emotional well-being, and engagement of at-risk students. This position is funded under Section 31n of the Michigan School Aid Act. Students eligible for 31n services fall within the mild-to-moderate range of mental health or behavioral concern. Eligibility is determined through a multi-source process that may include referrals, screening tools, input from parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators, mental health assessments, and review of school data such as attendance, behavior, and grades. The 31n Social Worker provides early intervention, removes barriers to learning, and collaborates with staff, families, and community partners to support student success.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have or be working toward one of the following certifications in the State of Michigan

  • Licensed Master Level Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Limited-licensed Master's Level Social Worker (LLMSW)
  • Licensed Masters Level School Social Worker (SSW)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with individual students or groups of students within the classroom, school or community setting.
  • Work as a team member with the building principal, psychologist, other ancillary staff and teachers on student intervention teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between district staff, families, and community agencies.
  • Maintain documentation required for Section 31n funding compliance.
  • Connect families with mental health providers, housing supports, food programs, and medical resources.
  • Coordinating behavioral supports for intensive-need students.
  • Teaching and reinforcing essential social skills.
  • Provide direct and indirect service to students and their families through individual, group, and consultation methods.
  • Other Responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor.

Wages and Fringes: To be developed in accordance with the grant.
