2nd Shift Shipping / Receiving Handler
Hours: 2:00PM-10:00PM (must report 15 minutes prior and stay 15 minutes after shift for changeover)
Pay Rate: $19.33 per hour
The position involves preparing, shipping, and receiving materials at the plant.
Key duties include:
- Checking incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
- Counting, weighing, and measuring materials.
- Determining the appropriate shipping method.
- Applying shipping labels and identifying information to cartons, crates, and containers.
- Unpacking incoming shipments and checking for damage or shortages.
- Reporting damaged or missing materials to the appropriate parties.
- Routing materials to the proper departments.
- Inspecting outgoing shipments to make sure they meet specifications.
- Maintaining supplies used for shipping.
- Operating a forklift/tier lift truck and clamp truck to move materials between shipping/receiving, storage, and production areas.
- Assisting with material handling throughout the plant.
- Performing regular cleanup duties.
Requirements and working conditions
- Forklift and clamp-truck operation is required; provides an in-company forklift training program.
- Must be able to lift/move 40 pounds or more.
- Requires a high level of attention to operate powered industrial trucks safely.
- Work is primarily standing and walking (about 95% of the time).
- Safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses/side shields are required.
- The plant can reach temperatures from approximately 55°F to 100°F, with higher temperatures near ovens for short periods.
