Position Overview
The Production Supervisor is a frontline manufacturing leader responsible for driving safe, efficient, and high-quality operations across their assigned shift and production area. This role serves as the direct link between Plant Leadership and the hourly workforce - translating priorities into action, holding people accountable, and ensuring every shift runs with discipline and purpose.
Primary Responsibilities
Safety Leadership - Champion a safe working environment by ensuring all employees understand and comply with company safety policies. Schedule and conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions. Promptly investigate all accidents and near misses, complete required incident reports, and drive root cause analysis with corrective actions.
Quality & Process Control - Assign and instruct the workforce to sustain high-quality production output while following all process procedures. Identify and respond to out-of-control processes, enforce plant priorities, and communicate issues to service departments in writing as needed.
People Management - Supervise, direct, and hold the team accountable for area results. Maintain discipline in accordance with company policy.
Operational Oversight - Own all operational aspects of the assigned area and shift. Monitor equipment condition, employee adherence to procedures, and housekeeping standards on a continuous basis. Complete daily production reports, attendance reports and timekeeping records.
Continuous Improvement - Drive continuous improvement by leading process improvement projects, coordinating hands-on training for hourly personnel, and actively participating in all initiatives aimed at advancing operational efficiency and process excellence.
Shift Continuity -Maintain shift continuity by clearly communicating area status, priorities, and open issues to oncoming supervisors through verbal handoffs, emails, or other established methods.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing experience, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and a high level of social awareness.
Success in this role requires equal parts operational knowledge and people leadership - someone who can read the floor, solve problems in real time, and build a culture where safety, quality, and continuous improvement are the standard, not the exception.
