Shift: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:15 PM. A flexible schedule is not available.

Summary

The Hybrid Manufacturing Technician is a cross-functional role responsible for supporting production across extrusion, molding, and assembly operations. This is a cross departmental position in Molding, Hand, and Auto Assembly depending on the priorities of the shift. This position operates extrusion equipment to produce thermoplastic tubing, assists with molding floor activities, and performs both automated and manual assembly of components into finished products. Daily priorities will be set at the beginning of each shift depending on each departmental needs and priorities for the shift.

This role requires strong attention to quality, the ability to read technical drawings and support production scheduling needs while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Functions

Extrusion Operations

• Operate extrusion equipment to produce thermoplastic tubing according to production schedules.
• Handle reels, including loading/unloading, specifying roll lengths and weights, and sealing splices with moisture-proof coverings.
• Inspect tubing for defects and verify conformance to specifications.
• Communicate equipment or process issues to the Production Manager.

Molding Support

• Perform line clearance procedures when starting and ending jobs.
• Material mixing - understanding where to locate materials, amounts needed and proper mixing
• Box labeling, parts inspection, production paperwork
• Maintain proper documentation and communication between shifts.
• Support general molding floor operations, including housekeeping and organization.

Assembly Operations (Automated & Manual)

• Operate automated assembly equipment to produce finished goods.
• Perform hand assembly using tools, fixtures, and testing equipment (including water testing units).
• Complete job changes and work order changes based on production needs.
• Assist in training new assembly operators as required.

Quality & Inspection

• Inspect parts visually and dimensionally to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Use measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, and scales accurately.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail and uphold quality standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of machine guarding and PPE.
• Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Read and understand English to comply with safety requirements.

Production & Documentation

• Accurately complete production paperwork and work order documentation.
• Ensure correct box labeling, weights, and counts.
• Maintain traceability and accuracy in all production records.
• Support scheduling needs by adapting to changing production priorities.

General Expectations

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in production manufacturing warehouse. May be required to wear common (PPE) Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

• Walking 50%, standing 40%
• Moving or lifting up to 60 pounds on a regular basis
• Ascending/descending steps on a ladder or other equipment
• Stooping to pick up parts on a regular daily basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, self-motivation, attention to detail and be able to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-2 years injection molding preferred
