Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift

Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Employment Type: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $32.00/hour
Schedule: 2:15 PM – 11:00 PM

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting daily production by minimizing equipment downtime through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs. This position maintains and troubleshoots technical and automated manufacturing equipment, including air compressors, water chillers, sandblasting equipment, vacuum equipment, pumps, and related machinery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and cooling systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and wire 480V three-phase systems, including low-voltage controls.
  • Maintain automated equipment, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and Arc welding as needed.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance logs, inspection records, and work documentation.
  • Complete maintenance work in a timely manner, preferably before production begins.
  • Identify equipment issues, determine corrective actions, and implement solutions.
  • Understand and occasionally operate PVD coating equipment according to established procedures.
  • Communicate maintenance issues, project progress, and potential problems to management.
  • Support continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, and judgment.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to follow instructions and all safety regulations.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with vacuum equipment or cutting tools preferred.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance, mechanical repair, manufacturing, or related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with 480V three-phase electrical systems and low-voltage controls preferred.
  • Welding experience, including MIG, TIG, and Arc, preferred.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Work may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, moderate noise, adhesives, power tools, and forced air.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
