    Altom Transport is hiring an experienced 2nd Shift HM183 Cargo Tank Mechanic at our Pasadena, TX shop. You’ll be working indoors, on well-maintained equipment, with the tools and parts you actually need to do the job right the first time.     Requirements

    Required

    • Active HM183 Registered Inspector status with PHMSA — or current eligibility to register (we’ll help you complete registration)
    • Minimum 2 years of diesel tractor experience
    • Minimum 1 year of trailer/tanker experience
    • Working knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 178, 180, and 393
    • Ability to read and interpret DOT regulations, OEM service manuals, and electrical/hydraulic schematics
    • Comfortable working around liquid bulk product residue, including hazmat
    • Own basic hand tools (we supply specialty tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
    • Authorized to work in the United States
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
    • In lieu of experience, completion of an applicable technical/trade school will be recognized

    Preferred

    • Current V, I, P, L, T, and U cargo tank inspection qualifications
    • Hands-on experience with DOT 406, 407, 412 and MC 306, 307, 312 cargo tanks
    • Class A or B CDL (not required — but a strong plus, and we offer pay bumps for CDL holders)
    • ASE certifications (T-series in particular)
    • Hazmat endorsement
    • Welding certification (MIG/TIG on stainless or aluminum)
    • Prior experience at a tanker carrier, petrochemical, or food-grade hauler
