Compression Molding Utility Operator

Position Summary
The Compression Molding Utility Operator works as part of a cross-functional team to support production schedules and ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The Utility Operator will rotate through various positions within the production cells and assist with staging materials, operating equipment, changeovers, start-up and shut-down procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
The successful candidate will be trained as a backup to the Setup Person on 2nd or 3rd shift to provide coverage during scheduled time off and other absences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team and rotate between various positions within the Compression Molding cells.
  • Stage in-process materials and finished goods.
  • Operate molding presses and/or water jet equipment.
  • Transport materials to and from production cells.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers.
  • Assist with start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Remove offal, scrap, and waste materials from the production cell.
  • Complete required production paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure products meet established specifications.
  • Meet or exceed productivity and waste reduction targets.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Learn and perform all tasks and positions within the assigned cell.
  • Provide backup support to the Setup Person as needed.
  • Be available for required overtime, including some mandatory weekend work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
Qualifications

  • Have a solid work history.
  • Previous manufacturing or production cell experience is preferred.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to safely work around production machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to routinely lift approximately 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 20–25 pounds.
  • Ability to push or move materials as required.
  • Standing and walking approximately 95% of the workday.
  • Bending approximately 5% of the workday.
  • Climbing approximately 5% of the workday.
  • Average lifting height is approximately 2 feet.
  • Must be able to work around production equipment and maintain a steady pace throughout the shift.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an enclosed manufacturing environment.
  • Temperatures typically range from approximately 55°F to 100°F, with higher temperatures possible near ovens for short periods.
  • Noise levels may reach approximately 94 dB.
  • Work is primarily performed while standing and walking.
  • Employees may occasionally work around elevated temperatures and operating production machinery.
  • No regular work areas are located more than 4 feet above the floor without guardrails.
