We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support our food production facility. This role focuses heavily on electrical troubleshooting and repair, with particular emphasis on Allen-Bradley (AB) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). The successful candidate will maintain, diagnose, and repair production equipment to minimize downtime while upholding strict food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair on production equipment, control panels, motors, sensors, and power distribution systems.
- Install, configure, program, parameterize, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley VFDs (PowerFlex series and similar); diagnose faults, replace drives, for conveyors, shredders/dicers, Fanuc Robot and Matrix VFFS packaging equipment.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and electromechanical systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC ladder logic, and technical manuals.
- Support mechanical maintenance tasks as needed (bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pneumatics).
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in a fast-paced production environment and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash safety, and all food-safety and sanitation protocols.
- Document work orders, parts usage, and maintenance activities accurately.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and sanitation teams to improve equipment reliability.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous-improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and working with Allen-Bradley VFDs (PowerFlex 525 or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of three-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), sensors, and basic industrial controls.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and use multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and industrial safety practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school preferred.
- Ability to work in a food production environment (temperature extremes, wet conditions, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix) and related software.
- Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $25 - $35, based on experience and demonstrated electrical/VFD skills.
