Requirements Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology, or related field
Masters degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of individual and group counseling skills
Knowledge and skill in casework methods
Knowledge of instructional prevention and intervention strategies
Knowledge of child development as it relates to academia
Ability to work effectively with students and manage their behavior
Strong Consultation skills for conferencing with staff, students, and parents
Awareness and ability to access community resources
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years experience in counseling role or social work Description Primary Purpose:
Provide specialized services to at-risk secondary students and feeder campus students as assessments indicate. Perform casework service to help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with adjustment to school and their ability to enjoy the benefits of the educational process. Function as part of the student support services team to formulate prevention, intervention, and crisis plans with the staff, students, and parents.
