Substitute K-12 School Bus Driver(s)

Position Summary: The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and ecient transportation of students to and from school, as well as to school-related events and activities. The driver plays a vital role in student safety and acts as a key representative of the district to students and families.

Work Schedule: 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Required Qualications: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Washington State driver's license. CDL Class B with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction removed. OSPI certication to drive school buses. Valid First Aid/CPR certication. Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam. Successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol and FBI ngerprint background check. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with attention to follow-through. Eective oral and written communication skills. Positive attitude toward students and families.

Preferred Qualications: Recent experience driving a school bus. Demonstrated ability to collaborate eectively with supervisors, administrators, and sta.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged sitting while operating a vehicle. Ability to work in a noisy, crowded, or changing environment. Repetitive use of arms and legs while driving. Exposure to variable weather conditions. Occasional lifting of heavy objects (e.g., assistive devices or student equipment, if applicable)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Safely operate a school bus and other district eet vehicles for daily routes, eld trips, extracurricular activities, and special education transportation as assigned. Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report any issues to the supervisor. Check engine uids and belts before cold starts; report any mechanical deciencies. Drive safely in all weather conditions, including snow, ice, fog, rain, and high winds. Train students on emergency evacuation procedures. Maintain student discipline and ensure safety while transporting students. Comply with all CDL and trac safety regulations. Respond appropriately to emergency situations, both physically and mentally. Clean and disinfect the bus as necessary, including proper disposal of body uids. Immediately report all accidents involving the vehicle, self, or passengers. Maintain required certications and submit up-to-date driver records and physicals. Exhibit punctuality and maintain a strong attendance record.
