General Function

21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLCs) are federally funded after-school / extended-day programs. Supervision will be provided by the Site Coordinator/Principal, as well as the District Program Director. CCLC funds academic support (especially in the areas of math, reading, and science) along with homework assistance, as well as arts and cultural enrichment opportunities for students. The Teacher must work with community partners to help create and implement a project-based curriculum.

Education/Training/Experience

Minimum: Valid NM Teaching License (Elementary or Secondary, depending on assigned school site)

Preferred: Bilingual: English-Spanish

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidate should be knowledgeable in best practices, Common Core State Standards, and NM state priority standards. Candidates must be able to work with others and be able to follow curriculum and grant requirements. Basic computer skills (MS Office/web based applications) are required and the ability to teach virtually if required. The candidate should be willing to participate in training and professional development with District Program Director as mandated by the grant. Candidates should understand and embrace the concept of accountability in meeting the deliverables by the deadlines for the NM Public Education Department. Candidates must have good interpersonal skills with students and be willing to work closely with families.

Essential Job Functions

Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential functions include the following:

  1. Implement the 21st CCLC curriculum.

  2. Take an active role in developing the academic and personal strengths of students enrolled in the after-school program.

  3. Serve as an instructional role model/mentor to teachers and educational paraprofessionals staffing the program.

  4. Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students enrolled in the program.

  5. Work with staff to ensure accurate records are maintained, including attendance and grades.

  6. Communicate frequently and honestly with the Principal, Site Coordinator, and District Program Director regarding student progress and areas of concern.

  7. Other related duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$43.17/hour

Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to)

Standard office equipment and software platforms such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Automobile to travel to school sites.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand; move throughout a room and/or facility.
  • Communicate verbally and electronically.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, and drive.
  • May have occasion to perform light lifting, but not more than 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Some evening or weekend work and travel may be required.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.

  • Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury.
