Position: Special Education Teacher
Reports to: Director of Specialized Services
The Special Education Teacher provides direct services to scholars, consults with other professionals, discusses progress with parents, plans, delivers and evaluates instructional outcomes, and provides instruction in a classroom through an inclusion model and/or small group pull-out.
Essential Functions:
- Implements Milwaukee College Prep curriculum in daily instruction Collaborates with general education classroom teacher to modify curriculum to reach all learners
- Writes goals and objectives for IEPs using state's special education software Administers and interprets individual formal and informal assessments and measures scholar achievement and progress toward their objectives and goals Participates in IEP meetings and provides necessary documentation Develops lesson plans
- Provides progress reports and timely communication with parents/guardians Coordinates services for scholars
- Maintains all required paperwork to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Provides model of exemplary conduct for students
Other Duties:
- Transports supplies and equipment to a variety of sites for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Attends training and staff meetings
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in job related area is required. Additional, ongoing professional development preferred
Experience
Prior related experience preferred
Licensing
Wisconsin teaching certification
Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification required annually before first day with scholars

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Job Parameters: (Full time)
- Vacation - between 6/15 and 8/1 plus staff vacation days during school year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc). 10 paid personal days per year.
