Primary Purpose: To establish a pool of qualified Substitute School Nurses to provide health services to students in the absence of a regular school nurse. Substitute School Nurses play a critical role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of students across all campuses.
Experience:
At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
1 year of pediatric or school nursing experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct health care to students and staff, including first aid and medication administration.
Manage medical emergencies and communicate with parents/guardians as necessary.
Maintain student health records in accordance with district policy and state regulations. Monitor communicable diseases and assist with health screenings.
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to promote student health and wellness.
Qualifications:
Current Texas Nursing License - LVN or RN.
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Previous pediatric, public health, or school nursing experience preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
Communication:
Communicate in a friendly, positive, and professional manner towards students, parents, staff, and administrators.
Other:
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Ability to work across multiple campuses with students of various age groups.
Ability to use basic computer applications, including email and word processing.
