1st Shift Seamer Operator (Can Line)
Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour
The 1st Shift Seamer Operator (Can Line) is a full-time production role responsible for operating the filler/seamer machine that fills tomato products into cans and seals them with lids. The operator is accountable for both production efficiency and product quality.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate the filler/seamer machine at maximum efficiency.
- Monitor and record production performance and downtime.
- Verify product temperatures and production data hourly.
- Inspect sample cans for defects and ensure proper coding.
- Start up, shut down, and clean the filler/seamer equipment.
- Inspect lids before use and report damaged or dirty lids.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance personnel.
- Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety, and company safety requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
- Team-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for most of the shift.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, twisting, and climbing.
- Regular handling of can lids and materials.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to about 80 pounds.
- Ability to keep the production line supplied with lids to avoid downtime.
