    Teacher Assistant

    Summary

    The Teacher Assistant's job is to manage work loads to ensure he/she is available to support the classroom teacher with student instruction and classroom management, while maintaining morals and standards of character that are positive examples for all students and reflect positively on Lincoln Charter School.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supports in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate strategies;
    • Assists in tracking communication related to Ed-line, interim reports, report cards and other documentation as required;
    • Serves as a substitute teacher when necessary;
    • Assists teacher in tracking, preparing and sending communication dealing with student needs;
    • Tracks student homework and assists the teacher as appropriate with grading and assessing students;
    • Tutors and assists students individually or in small group in order to help them master skills;
    • Participates in parent conferences regarding students' academic performance and behavior concerns

    Qualifications

    • Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core
    • Strong background in literacy and reading foundations preferred
    • Preferred - Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited college/university
    • CDL for Driving School Bus - must be willing to obtain CDL and go through required training if not already holding a valid CDL
