Windows Systems Administrator - Classified Systems

Location: Linthicum, Maryland Onsite Company: Northrop Grumman

Position Overview Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a skilled Windows Systems Administrator to support classified infrastructure and enterprise IT environments in Linthicum, Maryland. This role is responsible for administering secure Windows-based systems supporting virtualization platforms and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense DoD security standards. The selected candidate will maintain system reliability, manage enterprise services, and support mission-critical operations within a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain Windows Server environments Active Directory and enterprise domain architecture Manage and support VMware virtualized infrastructure including high-availability environments Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and Group Policy configurations Create, deploy, and manage system images within enterprise environments Install, configure, patch, and monitor servers and supporting infrastructure Provide backup, recovery, and storage management to ensure system availability and data protection Manage user accounts, security permissions, and file system access controls Support multiple secure networks and coordinate with system engineers, network teams, and end users Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system performance issues Ensure systems comply with DoD security frameworks and guidelines, including RMF STIG and related security requirements Maintain security audit logs and assist with documentation required for classified information systems Document system processes, procedures, and technical configurations Evaluate hardware and software solutions and recommend system improvements Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve technical issues and implement system upgrades

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience Associates degree with 10 years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree with 8 years of relevant experience OR Masters degree with 6 years of relevant experience OR High School diploma with 12 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Active DoD Secret security clearance with a recent investigation or enrollment in the Continuous Evaluation Program Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program SAPSAR clearance CompTIA Security CE certification required to maintain employment Experience managing Windows Server operating systems and domain environments Ability to support multiple networks and perform systems administration tasks independently Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds and support after-hours maintenance when needed

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field Experience working in classified DoD environments following NISPOM RMF STIG JSIG or similar security frameworks Experience installing and maintaining server hardware and networked systems Understanding of network fundamentals, including subnets, routing, and VLANs Experience with Linux operating systems Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization platforms Knowledge of Certification and Accreditation C&A processes DoD 8140 certification in Windows or Linux administration Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Work Environment This is a full-time onsite role supporting classified systems at the Northrop Grumman campus in Linthicum, Maryland. Candidates must be able to work in secure facilities and adhere to strict information security policies.
