Systems Engineer 3 (MBSE)

Position Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 to support the ANS department within the Engineering & Sciences organization. This role focuses on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), supporting system architecture development, requirements management, and full lifecycle systems engineering activities-from concept through deployment and disposal.

You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical planning, system integration, and verification & validation (V&V)
• Conduct cost, risk, and supportability analyses across the system lifecycle
• Apply MBSE methodologies using tools such as Cameo and DOORS
• Translate customer requirements into system-level architectures and specifications
• Perform functional analysis, trade studies, and requirements decomposition
• Develop and manage interface definitions (ICDs, IRS, IDDs)
• Ensure solutions align with technical, schedule, and cost constraints
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Prepare and deliver technical documentation and presentations

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM field with:

• 5+ years (BS), or

• 3+ years (MS), or

• 1+ year (PhD)

• Experience in systems engineering and requirements management

• Experience with MBSE or software-based engineering tools

• Strong understanding of system lifecycle processes

• Excellent communication and technical writing skills

• Active DoD Secret clearance (required)

• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

• U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MBSE tools: Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Sparx EA, Enterprise Architect
• Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements traceability
• Knowledge of SysML, UPDM, or modeling frameworks such as DoDAF/UAF
• Background in aerospace, defense, or military systems
• Experience with system architecture, CONOPS, and large-scale system development
• Familiarity with Agile Systems Engineering
• Experience with Cost Account Management (CAM)
• INCOSE certification (e.g., CSEP) or SysML certification
