What Youll Do
- Oversee daily operations in the blood bank section, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards including CLIA, TJC, CAP, and AABB
- Lead and supervise laboratory testing personnel performing complex blood bank procedures
- Develop, review, and update policies, procedures, and quality control programs
- Troubleshoot and maintain blood bank equipment, ensuring optimal functionality
- Coordinate specimen collection, processing, and reporting, maintaining patient confidentiality
- Train and evaluate staff, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Participate in proficiency testing, internal audits, and performance improvement initiatives
What You Need
Required:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HHS
- Bachelors degree or higher in medical technology or related field
- At least 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, with 5 years in blood bank or transfusion services
- Extensive knowledge of blood bank compliance regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred:
- Advanced SBB (specialty in blood bank)
- Experience with EPIC Beaker, SoftBank, Orthovison
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and early/late shifts
